Corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses will be exempt from sales and use tax as of July 1. The Ohio Department of Revenue has updated information on its website explaining the taxation of drugs, durable medical equipment, mobility enhancing equipment and prosthetic devices. The update amends the definition of “prosthetic device.” As of that date, “prosthetic device” won’t include a dental prosthesis, but it will include corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses under a prescription.
